Governor Dayton released his bonding bill proposal this morning: he included $50 million for affordable housing. This is a record. We are thrilled to see this commitment from Governor Dayton and praise his effort. Here’s his contact information – please consider writing a quick thank you note.
There’s more good news: Homes for All has a bill prepared to invest $100 million for affordable housing. Here’s the scoop.
Legislative Update
Preparing for Session
The legislative session begins February 25, 2014. Because of this late start to a short session, we were able to pre-file our Homes for All bill: $100 million for housing. The bill is unofficially authored by the chair of the House Capital Investment committee (authors will be officially listed when session begins). So far, 11 representatives have sign-on to support the bill. Is your representative one of them? Please send them a quick thank you email. Here’s the unofficial list of bill authors.
What’s Next?
There is a lot of work ahead, and we look forward to working with you over the legislative session. In the next few weeks, we’ll be asking for your help to get additional legislators to co-sponsor the bill.
